We were dismayed to read this news yesterday when a resident shared it on a local group chat. I was even more dismayed that this was the first I’d heard of it.

I promised to follow up on this at council last night and so, as a group, we asked questions about it and made clear our unhappiness with the lack of consultation.

The fact is, though, that BCP has a £50m shortfall in the 24-25 budget that has to be found and measures such as this are inevitably a part.

Sadly, the administration made it clear last night that we’ll see much more of this as a result of the financial mismanagement of the previous regime here and the Conservative government more widely.
