The Labour Group on BCP Council is calling for an urgent explanation as to why more sewage has been released into the sea near several beaches in the area.

Labour Group Leader Sharon Carr-Brown said:

It is extremely disappointing to see the apparent lack of resilience in the system and that we continue to have raw sewage discharged into the sea. Water companies must address this and BCP Council must hold them to account.

The towns’ MPs must also take action at Westminster. This situation has been allowed to go on for far too long. Our beaches are the jewel in our collective crown and we must be able to protect them and everyone who wants to use them.

We feel the public is entitled to an explanation as to why this happened and need to be informed as to what steps will be taken to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
