The local Fabian Society was founded in 1892, and is the hub of progressive political debate in Bournemouth, holding regular monthly meetings with exciting guest speakers.

Mike Goff and Paul Kimber will speak on the topic "Co-operative Values in Today's Society", and then welcome questions from the floor. We hope for a lively discussion as always.

Mike is a member of Bournemouth Labour Party, GMB Trade Union and the Regional Board of The Co-operative Group. He is also Chair of Bournemouth & District Fabian Society.

Paul is a member of South Dorset Labour Party, UNITE Trade Union and the Regional Board of The Co-operative Group. He was also Mayor of Weymouth & Portland, 2010-11.

Johanna Baxter, CLP representative on Labour's NEC, will be coming to speak to New Forest West Constituency Labour Party. This is an excellent opportunity for party members to listen to someone who attends the NEC and is at the heart of how the Labour party is run. October 2012 will see the visit of the current “Baby of the House of Commons” Bridget Phillipson MP.

All Bournemouth and District Fabian Society meetings are held at The Friends Meeting House, Wharncliffe Road, Boscombe, Bournemouth, BH5 1AH, and start at 7.30pm. A map of the location can be found below. Admission is £1 for members and £2 for visitors, and tea, coffee and biscuits are served.

Annual membership of the society costs £10 and cheques should be made payable to Bournemouth & District Fabian Society.
